Blacknot Farm creates instantly downloadable projects for women looking to destress by working with their hands to create something beautiful and unique.
Tell us about yourself
Blacknot Farm started as a creative outlet for me! Looking to destress from full-time teaching, I would always create things. My 'If You Can Read This - Bring Me a Glass of Wine' socks that went viral in 2016 sealed the deal on my new entrepreneurial adventure.
I love creating new and exciting products, and although the socks were a big success, they were a fad and soon duplicated by many. I have learned, especially over those tough pandemic years, that I can create more and help others make more if I offer digital products.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is perseverance. Small business is not for the faint of heart. I am proud of my persistence and ability to pivot and see new possibilities and opportunities.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things I find as a small business owner is a work and personal life balance. It is easy to keep working when you love what you're doing! However, time away from work is necessary to remain productive, healthy, and happy.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- It's a marathon, not a sprint. Be prepared for the long haul and be willing to pivot and adapt.
- Listen to all advice and learn all that you can but make your own decisions. It's your business.
- Create systems and procedures from the start that save you time and sanity.
