Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in real estate but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Samuel Dolcine, Founder of Black Real Estate Dialogue, located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is Black Real Estate Dialogue, which is a show that highlights black real estate investors. In addition to the show, I provide educational courses and merchandise. My customers are anyone who wants to invest in real estate.

Tell us about yourself

I decided to start a show in 2019 that highlighted black real estate investors. I was looking for a show that did the same, and I could not find it. I had no previous experience with media and learned along the way. I'm still learning new things daily. It's made a tremendous impact, and I'm very proud to share these stories with the world and actionable information. I started reaching out to guests, and the rest is history.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

In 2022, I set a goal to release 3 episodes per week, and we didn't miss a single day. It was difficult; however, I know it's my job to provide information that can impact people all over the world. Shoutout to my producer for supporting me in that.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

A business will always have ups and downs. Sometimes staying encouraged during the downtimes is difficult. Consistency, especially in my space, is a requirement. So being consistent with content and episodes is challenging. It's important to have the discipline to do what needs to be done, even when it's challenging, or you're not motivated.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you actually care about what you're starting. There should be a mission associated with it. Don't do it only for money because that won't motivate you on the days you don't want to work.
  2. Don't be afraid to pivot. Change is guaranteed, and it's important to know when you need to adjust or even remove things in your business.
  3. Don't compare yourselves to others and run your own race.
