Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lillia Slemmons, Co-Founder of Biophoton Services, located in Alameda, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am the co-founder of a small women-owned business in biophotonic health tech serving the community of Alameda County. Our company is working with an extremely advanced and sophisticated device that is able to recalibrate the light emitted by your cells, resolving chronic health issues, and stimulating the body's regenerative capabilities. Scientists are now becoming more and more interested in studying the possibilities of healing with light and technology in the medical world. Only recently did fiber optic cables make it possible for light particles, also known as biophotons, to travel through them. Our technology is revolutionary in that it can communicate and manipulate cells in a non-invasive manner.

We've had tremendous success within the last ten years across the board, but one main subject that jumps out is removing plaque build-up within the veins and arteries. Removing calcifications alone takes about 6-8 sessions with the technology we use. We've seen everything from depression to stage four liver disease and have reversed illnesses that were thought to be terminal.

Tell us about yourself

Inspired by my holistic roots and former collaboration with Dutch Pioneer Johan Boswinkel as Director of Operations at the Institute for Applied Biophoton Sciences, I have found my place in the field of biophotonic health tech. I feel privileged to have had a foundation of great health and feel that's it my duty to help others with the resources and technology that has crossed my path. It gives me a great purpose to help others accomplish their health goals physically, emotionally, and mentally. I have set out on purpose far greater than myself.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Approximately 50% of our work involves providing unbilled services to those in need. It's our passion at Biophoton Services to help and donate resources when feasible and make this technology accessible to all income levels, especially single mothers with children. We've used this technology to help parents with autistic children successfully. We've taken children that were non-verbal and non-participatory within their school setting to now leading functional lives. Their worlds, families, and communities are forever changed.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Sometimes you lose momentum or experience slow growth. It's important to remember to appreciate the downtime and take the opportunity to do something that brings you joy. The happier you are, the easier it will be to get in alignment and allow the universe to help provide resources for you.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure it's your passion and that you fully believe in the product or service you're offering with integrity.
  2. Don't chase the money -It's important to create a job that aligns with your interests, skills, and values and provides opportunities for growth and development.
  3. Be persistent in order to overcome all obstacles and lead with purpose.
