Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Braden Bingham, Founder of Bingham X, located in Denver, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business, Bingham X, is a marketing and creative agency based in Denver, CO. I specialize in creating eye-catching visuals through photography and videography while keeping brand goals in mind. My customers vary from individuals to small and large businesses. By having a diverse set of skills, I can provide solutions at a reasonable cost that most agencies can't provide.

Tell us about yourself

I originally learned photography, web design, and graphic design as a passion while assisting with my father's photography business. In college, I studied mechanical engineering and pursued engineering for a few years following college. After several years, a couple of patents, and a lot of experience in creating consumer products, I landed into a marketing role for General Mills. Over the next 8 years, I helped build multi-million dollar marketing programs across 3 companies before starting my own agency. I combined all the skills I had learned across my career into what Bingham X is today. I am motivated by being able to be creative each day and help individual and brands build their businesses.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment was creating a business months before everything shut down with COVID and being able to grow that business to working with clients like Ducati, Segway, and Wu-Tang, within the first few years.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Being a business owner poses constant challenges, and being able to adapt is imperative. There are times where you work 100-hour weeks with little to no return, but it all is worth the effort when you see the impact the business makes on the people around you.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be scrappy. So many businesses overspend starting their business, taking massive loans or investments when you can learn to do so much yourself, or there are solutions out there that can help you get started at a fraction of the cost.
  2. Keep going. A successful person with a lot of experience once told me that right before you make it; it always feels like things are going to fall apart. You have to push through that and keep going.
  3. Be different. There are so many ways out there to be unique. I believe more people need to make an effort to stand out and be different. It's harder than ever to catch people's attention; you need to stand out to be noticed and succeed.
