Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in entertainment but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Traci S. Campbell, Founder of BIBO Worldwide, LLC., located in Chicago, IL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am the CEO of BIBO Worldwide, LLC - a media company that produces content for radio, podcast, streaming, and cable networks. We specialize in helping small businesses get the exposure and marketing collateral they need while helping them get their message out.

Tell us about yourself

I have a background in information technology but started in the areas of non-profit and media work in 2010. While I love being a woman of color in technology (an industry that is still male-dominated), media and making a difference in communities has always been my passion. Growing up in a disadvantaged single-parent household also motivated me to create a platform to help women, youth, and small business owners have to support, get motivation, have a voice, and obtain needed resources to make it to the next level.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Launching a media platform is hard work but more than fulfilling! And being doubly blessed to also run a non-profit (The BIBO Foundation) to address needs specific to women and youth is very rewarding.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Finding the balance between working on your business and passion while also devoting needed time to and for yourself and your family is hard. It is so very easy to neglect one or the other, and you have to consciously work on time management to nurture both areas of your life.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Given the world we live in currently, I would suggest that anyone focus on:

  1. Be mindful of what your customers or clients really need. This may require adding to our pivoting in your business.
  2. In addition to your main business, have at least 1-2 other revenue streams that can keep your business afloat and your personal obligations as well.
  3. Get as much education and knowledge as you can about your business and your competitors. Always be in the mode of "student" when it comes to growing your business.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

My team and I are so very excited about the fast-approaching launch of our streaming platform on Roku, BeSpire TV, and our motto: "Be Informed. Be Entertained. Be Inspired," which brings content that everyone can enjoy, learn from, and get motivated as well. We are also looking forward to doing more community-based work and bringing back our successful BIBO Awards (which honor female role models and trailblazers in local communities) in 2023 through The BIBO Foundation.
