Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Mariam Fares, Founder and Owner of BeYou Yoga + Wellness, located in Northern Bruce Peninsula, ON, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
BeYou Yoga + Wellness is an integrative wellness business with offerings online and in-person. Located on a 50-acre homestead, the property in which my partner, pups (Gypsy + Jojo), and myself reside. Our homestead includes a cabin in the middle of the forest (hosting YOU!!! May – September), a wellness studio (a space for movement, mindfulness, and meditation), and our small farm stand where we share our abundance with the community (wellness products, fresh produce, and preserves). A trail network is in progress, and we have an expanding food garden, wildlife corridors, and soon chickens! I'm a yoga teacher, wellness coach, and homesteader! I operate BeYou Yoga + Wellness, a place where you are welcome just the way you are.
Tell us about yourself
You can take the girl out of Calgary (Alberta), but you can't take the Calgary out of the girl! For the last 10 years, I have traveled and lived in many different places, and I now call Northern Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, home. If you can breathe, you can do yoga. Yoga is for everybody.
My goal is to help you have a major breakthrough - in whichever area you need it. It's so important to me that you feel supported! I will be your biggest cheerleader, and together we will move mountains. My favorite thing in the entire world is empowering humans to make their dreams a reality! I do not believe in a conventional life (and I never have); I believe in chasing after your dreams and surrounding yourself with the people who will help you get there!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Changing people's lives by showing them they have it within them. EMPOWERMENT!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I am a one-woman show. One of the hardest things is wearing many hats, and it's challenging to find time to pause and find balance.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do what you love, and love what you do. ALWAYS.
- Buckle up. It's a bumpy road, hard work, and oh-so-rewarding!
- Boundaries. Don't let someone tell you what you are worth. You know your worth.
