What's your business, and who are your customers?
We provide telemental health services to individuals, couples, and families looking to strengthen the caliber of their relationships with other people.
Tell us about yourself
I have always loved helping people and knew right away that I wanted to be a therapist, but amidst COVID, I saw how major of a role our relationships play in our holistic health. In 2019 I launched my own private practice to focus on the intersection between ourselves and others. Now I see clients and mentor a group of clinicians training for licensure.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Between salvaging people’s relationships and being the reason why other clinicians have launched into this field, I couldn’t feel more accomplished.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Everything financial is the hardest: bills, taxes, payroll. I’m responsible for keeping my business afloat, supporting myself financially, and taking care of others’ livelihoods. It’s a lot!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Spend a little money upfront to get a lawyer, an accountant, and a money manager to build a strategic base.
- Either maintain another form of income other than your startup business as you’re building your business or save a large lump sum to have as a backup plan.
- Focus on the personality characteristics of the people you hire. They need to vibe with your vision.
