Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Preeti Mistry, Founder of Best Self Forward LLC, located in Woodbury, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

As a conscious dating coach and life coach, I founded Best Self Forward LLC to help single professionals that are thriving in their careers but want to be in a romantic relationship break out of a dating rut so that they can create meaningful, healthy love life they desire by unleashing their best selves. My mission is to help people move past the superficiality they sometimes face in dating and other relationships to help them connect on a deeper level with each other and also train their minds to focus more on our possibilities instead of our impossibilities.

Tell us about yourself

The pathway to coaching opened up for me during the pandemic when my career as a dentist came to a halt due to unforeseen circumstances related to COVID-19, and it was during that time I discovered the Jay Shetty Certification School and embarked on a new journey to become a certified coach. I have always been someone who has been intrigued by biology, psychology, human behavior, spirituality, and metaphysics. That and the combination of being an empath, naturally curious, and someone people can easily open up to led me to finally connect the dots and realize coaching was for me. My chosen niche as a conscious dating coach stemmed from some of my own challenges while dating and also seeing others struggle with similar issues. My passion and desire to learn and work past my own challenges and find a way to simplify this for people led me on the path I am on today.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is the transformation I help my clients through one person at a time. This in and of itself is rewarding for me to witness. It is why I do what I do. I have also enjoyed writing several articles on dating, relationships, and mindset.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I think having to wear multiple hats is the most challenging part. From marketing to sales to being a coach and also a CEO, knowing how to organize and be disciplined with your time and energy is important.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

My top three tips would be to:

  1. Be patient and be willing to experiment.
  2. Tune into what your target audience really wants versus what you think they want
  3. Don't be afraid to hire a mentor or business coach if you feel overwhelmed and think you need some help.
