Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Caroline Bogart, Owner of Bogart Computing LLC. DBA Best Red Light Therapy, located in Litchfield, NH, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Best Red Light Therapy is my place to share what I've learned about photobiomodulation (the use of light to change the body), also known as Red Light Therapy. I write articles to help myself master the science that allows us to use light to heal. My customers are people who care for those with dementia symptoms, those in pain who need relief, and those who want to regrow their hair. I recommend red light therapy products for these goals.

Tell us about yourself

I want to ease the pain. That motivates me every day. I don't have the constitution to be a nurse. I do everything I can to ease my own physical suffering. When I find non-invasive ways to lift pain, I want to share these solutions. We don't have to be in as much pain as we're in. That's true for our cats and dogs, too.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have directed people to light therapy products that reduce the symptoms of dementia. People don't realize how much more of disease dementia is than "memory loss." Dementia is crying, paranoia, and depression. Red light therapy eases the symptoms, and it can halt the progression of the disease. I help people feel better. Not just those with dementia or other problems like joint pain. I help caregivers who suffer every day under the burden of their loved one's emotional turmoil.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Some people will throw away new ideas without testing them. I believe they think they're being smart, but ultimately, they're not being scientific. I have something real to share, and it really relieves suffering at the physical and emotional levels. Rejection of a new idea without investigation is just as unscientific as believing everything everyone tells you.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Never assume you've communicated well. Ask people to repeat back your instructions to test their understanding and mastery.
  2. Show, then tell. I get inquiries from businesses who want me to sell their products. I say, "Why is this better than a competitor's?" What matters is how the product affects the buyer. Specifications are a distant second to what people want.
  3. Give it time. There's a long period of time when you put out, but the universe does not give back. If you quit, you'll never know what you could have done. Work every day as if you know that success will come.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I have a theory that the world did end in 2012. We're on a new timeline. If red and infrared light were this powerful all along, how the heck did it take this long for people to find out? I'm just joking. The science of red light therapy goes back to 1967. Chiropractors and horse owners have used it for 50 years. It's getting popular now because the prices have come down to buyable levels in the mass market. Red light therapy reduces pain and dementia severity. You don't need to suffer. I reference the science in my articles so that you can see this for yourself.
