Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Allison Capps, Founder of Belle Therapy + Wellness, located in Knoxville, TN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Belle Therapy + Wellness offers concierge physical therapy services focusing on women's health. I bring pelvic floor physical therapy rehabilitation into the comfort of your home for more personalized, private, and convenient care. I treat women across the age spectrum but specialize in pregnancy, postpartum, and peri-menopausal health.

Tell us about yourself

After the birth of my first child, my son Liam, I found myself very lost and confused regarding my physical health. Prior to my pregnancy, I was running, weight lifting, hiking, or some form of physical activity every day, and then post-pregnancy, I was barely able to walk in my kitchen without pain or shortness of breath. I was also a physical therapist, and even I was scared about how to rehabilitate myself. This is what inspired me to seek pelvic health education and training so I can help all women feel the same as I did!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner would be that I was the first mobile cash-based physical therapist in Knoxville, TN. I am not the type of individual to "take risks," so doing something this new was a huge step for me as a person and business owner!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest part of being a business owner is that work always comes home with you, and the "To-Do" list is never-ending. This brings the personal growth challenge of how to achieve the work-life balance you desire and how to nourish your family and friends while also growing a new business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just do it. There is no perfect time to start! The only regret I have is the time I lost twiddling my thumbs.
  2. If you don't know the answer to a question, then FIND someone who does. Find a real human being, and do not waste your hours Googling or YouTubing how to do something.
  3. Always be in tune with your mission or "Why." Every decision, every team member, and every opportunity should fully support and be in line with your mission or "Why."
