What's your business, and who are your customers?
At BelaMarca Studio, we are a marketing agency that executes robust marketing strategies for Chicagoland businesses. We specialize in web design and content creation so that our clients can focus solely on serving their clients.
Tell us about yourself
My goals have always motivated my business. Keeping my faith first in life is non-negotiable. So having a business where I can work on my terms is supportive of that. The other businesses that I'm able to support through my services also bring me so much satisfaction. Few things are more exciting than helping others to feel good about their business, to feel confident in their abilities, and to adore their brand. My business allows me to help with all three.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being able to transition from one-off clients (a "feast or famine" season) to passive income and being able to serve clients on retainer. Once you feel like your business is working for you, it's a true sense of accomplishment.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing is wearing all of that hats. All the responsibilities can cause you to spread yourself thin. There comes a time when you're desperate to scale the business and build a team. With that comes a lot of growing pains, and financially it can be a rough and awkward transition.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Start with some business capital. It will do you no good to start your business off with credit-card debt.
- If you're a service-based business, start out the gate with a product or some form of passive income to supplement those months when you don't have clients.
- Make modest investments in contract workers to help you expand your business services beyond your personal expertise and abilities.
