Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Cooper Gillespie, Founder, and CEO of Becoming Infinite, located in Joshua Tree, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My company is called Becoming Infinite. It houses a coaching certification, mindset coaching, and digital marketing/conversion copywriting services. My clients are soul-led entrepreneurs who come to me because they want to learn how to coach and/or they want help growing their businesses in a heart-centered way. Digital marketing, especially copywriting, is both an art and a science. I love helping purpose-driven entrepreneurs bring their brands to life through strategy and the written word.

Tell us about yourself

I started my business the way so many people in the personal development world do. I went through a dark night of the soul and began exploring spirituality and transformational modalities as a way to help myself. Then, I was so excited about everything I was learning I started sharing it with others—basically coaching people for free before I realized that coaching was an actual vocation.

I've always been a writer, so my business became this beautiful marriage of all the things I love to do: helping people create their "pinch me, I'm dreaming!" lives and businesses through coaching, writing, and certifying others in life-changing tools so they can help people and continue spreading the ripple of light and love around the world. I never could've imagined what a cool career I'd have. Being of service to others motivates me to do what I do every day. What else is there? The fact that I get to help other people make their dreams come true is my greatest gift.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was launching my coaching certification, the Becoming Infinite Method. I'm really proud of it. I created it because I had to take so many programs to learn coaching modalities and then so many more programs to learn how to market my services. I don't want anyone to have to spend as much time and money figuring out how to build their business as I did when I began.

My certification is a one-stop shop. It certifies people in 7 transformational modalities, including: NLP, Hypnotherapy, Life & Success Coaching, TIME Techniques, EFT, Reiki, and Meditation, and gives my students a full year of business support with me to help them launch and scale their businesses. It's the certification program I wish existed when I got started.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is having to wear all the hats: the bookkeeper, the marketing department, the creative team, and the CEO. Sometimes the sheer number of different things that need to be done in a day can feel overwhelming.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

My first tip is that starting and growing your own business is a lot of work, but it's worth it. There is a myth perpetuated by certain "gurus" in the online space that you'll do one launch and make six figures overnight. Maybe that happens for some people, but for most people, it takes several years of showing up every day in your business to have that kind of success, so don't be disappointed if it takes a while. The time, location, and financial freedom make it worth the effort in the end.

My second tip is just to get started. Many new entrepreneurs feel imposter syndrome or think they need to take another course before they are ready. If you're reading this, you're ready now, so put yourself out there because someone is waiting for you to show up and be their lighthouse—to show them that there's hope. Your work is too important to wait. Start now.

Finally, I'd say, "have fun!" Your business is your greatest creative expression. Have a blast in everything you do, from content creation to building programs to providing services. As long as you have fun, you'll never work a day in your life!
