What's your business, and who are your customers?
Beauty Essentials Skin is a skincare and handmade body care line. Geared towards families and those who want to focus on having healthy, beautiful skin. Beauty Essentials Skin is a family brand that takes a genuine approach to caring for your skin. Starting with good skincare from a young age is the best prevention for our later years. Our goal is to educate and equip the young, so they see the natural beauty of the old.
Tell us about yourself
My name is Aarika Counce, and I am the Founder of Beauty Essentials Skin. My journey started at the most unexpected place, a bridal shower. I was an event planner and had a bride who wanted these little soaps for party favors. I did some research into melt and pour soap and made them. It was rather relaxing, and I started making them for all my brides. Well, I had some leftovers and gave them to a friend. She liked them and asked me to make full-size ones. At the time, I read more about soap making and found out about cold process soap. It sounded overwhelming, and I was afraid to use lye, but I figured you never know till you try, so I tried, and well, it quickly became my favorite thing. Soon I found oils and things I could add to help with my eczema, and I tried them. Then the journey in my obsession with skincare began. Learning what can help people with their skin is my passion and being able to actually do it is my daily motivation.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I would say my biggest accomplishment would be coming out of my comfort zone and deciding that I would work my business full time.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The Hardest thing for me would be overcoming my own obstacles; owning a business is hard and a lot of work. Sometimes it's feast or famine and pushing forward isn't always easy. Being scared of failing has always been a stumbling block for me, and pushing past that has always been the hardest thing for me. It's my self-constructed roadblock.
