Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Elizabeth Joseph, owner of Be More Clean, located in Scottsdale, AZ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Be More Clean: Colon Hydrotherapy is a sister company of Be More Raw LLC. Together, we help individuals who are stuck in the hamster wheel of low energy and prescriptions that need more prescriptions. We empower and educate our clients, drawing on over ten years of Naturopathic Practice on how to listen to their bodies and the truth on reversing chronic illness.

We offer Comprehensive Naturopathic Evaluations, Infrared Sauna, and Closed & Open Colon Hydrotherapy treatments. You can add Gerson Therapy, Organic Green Coffee, Chlorophyll, Fulvic/Humic, and extremely high quality, practitioner-grade, and potent probiotics to your colonic treatment.

Tell us about yourself

Like most Naturopathic Practitioners, I have my own story of sickness to health. I couldn't have a bowel movement without colonic assistance. My hormones were in the toilet, I had panic attacks and severe acne, and I eventually discovered I had parasites.

After researching on my own how to bring myself back to health, I couldn't believe what I had learned regarding reversing chronic illness. After learning about REAL cures and reversal protocols that have been deliberately kept from the public, I made it my personal mission to teach people about their bodies and how easy, cheap, and delicious it can be to heal, thrive, and live life to the fullest.

My son and my father are my biggest motivations. My dad almost died at 69 years old due to heart disease. After learning that heart disease is completely reversible, my dad couldn't help but implement some changes. He's now 74 years old and doing great. Staying healthy for my son and teaching him the truth about our bodies, unlike we were, is my goal. Hopefully, he won't have to worry about disease and illness and can focus on his dreams and goals.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is opening up Be More Clean: Colon Hydrotherapy in the middle of a shutdown and still persevering. I was working for someone else full-time in March and was laid off. I made the decision then and there to jump into my passion and career full-time. I've had the business since 2013 but always had an income to lean on.

Making the leap into working for myself full time is the best thing I could have done for myself. Seeing the satisfaction and positive progress clients make couldn't be more rewarding. We are truly changing peoples' lives.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the biggest challenges I have is to find balance. I tend to pour myself into my work and neglect myself. I have learned the hard way that I must find time to pour into myself and schedule my self-care and time with loved ones.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just do it! Start somewhere. Even if you don't have any capital, you can do local events and vend. Posting on social media is free! I had a full-time job for YEARS before I was full-time, working for myself. Start somewhere.
  2. PATIENCE! Be Patient and open with how it might manifest. It might not look the way you want it. It might not happen how or when you want it to. Be open to receiving help, support, and mentorship from those doing what you want to be doing.
  3. Don't undercharge + set boundaries! I think this is most common in Holistic and Alternative Communities. Sometimes when we start out, we are so desperate for success and, quite frankly, money that we will relax all our healthy boundaries around when we take calls, price negotiations, and more. I strongly suggest you get a BUSINESS phone number so you can separate your work and personal life. Even if it's a free option like Google Voice, this will enable you to decide when you want to work or not.

Undercharging only hurts you in the long run. Remember that people will value your service as much as you do. There's nothing wrong with being competitive with your pricing, but be confident in the uniqueness that only you can bring.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Taking the leap to work for myself has changed my life. It's the hardest thing I've ever done, but I wouldn't look back for any reason.
