Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with LeShana Johnson, Founder and Owner of Be Bold and Courageous, located in Lutz, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a Focus + Clarity Coach that coaches women who are struggling to believe in themself as they grow to the next level in their personal or professional life. I help them get clear and laser-focused on moving forward with courage. My services include providing tools for women to develop personally and professionally through 1:1 coaching, group coaching, training, workshops, and motivational speaking events.

Tell us about yourself

I've always had a passion for helping people sort out what was going on in a season in their life by talking through the obstacles to get motivated and move forward with encouragement. I got certified as a life coach to learn the foundations of coaching and to serve others well with my passion, but I didn't start my actual business until six years after getting certified. I didn't have the courage to move forward on the next steps and felt stuck for a period.

Before Be Bold and Courageous was birthed, I was working at a healthcare company as a corporate trainer, and I loved what I was doing, but I knew there was more for me. I decided to take a leap of faith and resigned after being on maternity leave with my second kiddo. I spent more time with my family, revisited my business goals as a life coach, and moved forward with the support of loved ones and a confidence coach. I find peace knowing that I can use my gifts and experience to help someone get clear and move forward Boldly and Courageously in life. That's what also keeps me motivated each day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Good question. My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is seeing my clients grow to the next level and achieve their goals. It brings me joy knowing they are getting clear and being intentional about it, one step at a time.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

For me, the hardest things that come with being a business owner are:

  • Managing the expectation of business growth vs. the reality (progress takes time).
  • Narrowing down my niche and marketing that clearly to my target audience.
  • The learning curve with getting new information/knowledge and deciding when to apply it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Breathe and go one step at a time. Every step forward is progress. Trust the process.
  2. Surround yourself with a network or community of people who are in the same industry or business. Don't be afraid to ask for help from a friend, mentor, or coach. Tap into resources.
  3. Be Bold and Courageous! Have Faith and Believe that you can do it. You don't have to have every single step figured out.
