Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Brad Taylor, owner of BBQ4LIFE, located in Boise, ID, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

BBQ4LIFE is a bbq and vegan restaurant, and our customers cover the whole spectrum as we offer true vegan food and traditional bbq. It's a place where eaters of all types can sit at the same table and enjoy themselves.

Tell us about yourself

I started my own business pursuing freedom, and I am still chasing it. My motivation every day is to make my business better for our employees, customers, and ourselves.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Surviving the shutdowns and opening another restaurant during the shutdowns.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The loneliness involved with most people not having any way to really understand what small business owners actually go through daily.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be unafraid to fail. The only loss from a failure is not applying what you learned from said failure.
  2. Expect people to let you down, but treat everyone as nicely as you can.
  3. Don't let planning for the future prevent you from actually moving forward and be fluid and ready to change plans or directions.
