What's your business, and who are your customers?
Bayam Jewelry was founded in 2016. We sell real 10k, 14k, and 18k gold jewelry through our website bayamjewelry.com. We specialize in hip-hop jewelry, such as Cuban link chains, Cuban link bracelets, diamond pendants, and diamond chains. By this summer, we will welcome our customers to our showroom on 5th Avenue.
Tell us about yourself
I started this business in my sleeping room in 2016 and am now looking to expand the showroom to 4600 sq ft on 5th Avenue by 2023. I acquired knowledge about gold jewelry as I worked as an apprentice in various jewelry-related trades, such as diamond sorting, jewelry repairing, gold jewelry designing, and sales. I was already aware of the pros and cons of the business since I was a kid. I was born into this business, and building a well-known brand motivates me every day. This business makes me not want to sleep and keep doing what I am doing every day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
As of today, we have more than 300k customers worldwide. This year we are expected to make $40 million revenue in sales. We will be listed in Inc 5000 fastest-growing companies list this February.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I can explain it in one word, and it would be "stress." As a business owner, you really have to deal with stress; if you cannot overcome it, you will not be successful.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
I would say be consistent, learn how to deal with stress, always have very high goals, and keep grinding every day, every night, to reach your goals.
