What's your business, and who are your customers?

Bar Cicotti is a family-friendly eatery inspired by the traditional coffee and wine bars found in Italy! Located inside the Whatcom Museum's Lightcatcher building at 202 Grand Ave, We are open for both lunch and dinner, serving coffee, domestic and international wines, and fun, simple Italian-style eats. I own Bar Cicotti, my family originates from Cento in Northern Italy, and they are the source of many of the recipes found on our menu.

Tell us about yourself

I grew up on Lopez Island, learning the importance of sourcing locally at a young age. I fell in love with food and started traveling and working for chefs learning as much as possible. I love teaching and inspiring my team, seeing the smiles on the guest's faces makes all the hard work worth it.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Opening two restaurants during the pandemic and doing whatever it took to keep them going!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

To let go!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Work in the industry minimum of 3 different successful businesses to learn all the details.
  2. Don't cut corners.
  3. Ask for advice or hire professionals!
