What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are Ballard Acupuncture Center. We are acupuncture & Chinese herbal clinic that supports women through different transitions in their lives from fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum care to menopause with acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and supplements.
Tell us about yourself
I always knew I wanted to work with people and their health in a natural way, but I started working with women during important transitions when I was finishing up acupuncture school and was pregnant myself. I felt very supported during this time and afterward and wanted to be able to give that to other women too. For me, it made all the difference in having a happy, healthy, and supported pregnancy.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I went from just renting a room at first to expanding my clinic to having 3 treatment rooms, full-time staff, and a full Chinese herbal dispensary.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Being "on" all the time. Having to troubleshoot and put out different fires at any time.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have support from other professionals such as accountants and financial advisors.
- Take time to work "on" your business as well as "in" your business.
- Work with a business coach &/or mentor.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I feel grateful that I am able to support and offer solutions to women during these major life transitions when there are often no answers out there for them.
