Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with John Baldoni, Founder of Baldoni Consulting LLC., located in Ann Arbor, MI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is human development. I work to help women and men learn to live and lead with greater purpose and grace. I do this in four ways:

  1. I am an executive coach working with senior leaders to help them become more effective.
  2. I am a keynote presenter who mixes stories with real-world insights to improve leadership capacity.
  3. I host a LinkedIn Live interview show focusing on thought leaders and doers who are making the world a better place.
  4. I write books (16 to date) and contribute to many media outlets, including SmartBrief and Forbes.com.

Tell us about yourself

I am motivated by the challenge of helping others achieve what is best for them in ways that improve what they do and how they do it. That approach is what executive coaching is all about, and I enjoy it immensely.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have had the privilege of working globally. I coach people from around the world, speaking throughout North America and Europe. And my books have been translated into ten languages. I am also recognized as a Hall of Fame Mentor, Global Guru/Leadership, and member of 100 Coaches.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

For me, being a solo entrepreneur is a challenge but one I ameliorate by working with colleagues I respect and who teach me well.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The challenge of business is building it responsibly. Doing the work that matters most to you and fulfilling your purpose. Choose wisely.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I have two hobbies. One is golf, and the other is piano. Both keep me humble because each brings out my shortcomings as well as some joy.
