What's your business, and who are your customers?
We at B&R Consulting are a tax and accounting firm based in Luxembourg and registered with the local chartered accountants' board. We are providing tailored services for real estate and private equity firms mainly, as well as for local entrepreneurs.
Tell us about yourself.
As a teenager, I already had this entrepreneurial spirit and knew that one day I would start a business. After six years in a Big4, Cyril (B&R Consulting co-founder) and I decided this was the perfect time to take this new challenge.
What motivates me each day is to set the objectives (short/long) and define a way to reach them. In other words, knowing why I am working for.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Hiring our first employee, definitely. This was a major milestone and turned our firm from two crazy guys starting from scratch to a company with a real team. It does bring its share of responsibility since we are now accountable to our employees and must succeed for them.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
To learn how to stop thinking about the business, especially during WE and holidays. Hopefully, I'll manage to do it one day!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- DARE - many people think about starting a business, but few of them eventually do it.
- PREPARE - an idea alone is worthless. Building a true business plan and anticipating the start is key.
- APPRECIATE - being an entrepreneur is a never-ending job, don't forget to take the time to look at your achievements and appreciate them.
