What's your business, and who are your customers?

Avoila is a skincare brand focused on bringing luxurious plant-based skincare to women over 40. We currently have one product - Avoila Nourishing Face Oil.

Tell us about yourself

In my early 40s, I was feeling stuck in my advertising job and really struggling with the monotony after being in the industry for so long. I was craving something new in a category I was passionate about and hopeful that I could build something that offered more flexibility and balance in my life. The women that use Avoila keep me going - they love the product and how their skin looks and feels after using it.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Creating and launching a beautiful category in which I had no experience.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Being rejected or ignored by media outlets when you know you have an amazing product that deserves to be written and talked about.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Success will likely not happen overnight.
  2. Find a fellow entrepreneur or two that you can lean on when you are struggling.
  3. You may feel like you have to do certain things to be successful, but you don't - do what you think is right for the brand.
