What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are Avanta Small Business Law, and we support small business owners in Utah through legal entity formation, contract formation, HR compliance, and legal entity maintenance.
Tell us about yourself
I wish I could talk to small business owners all day. As a law student in San Francisco 20 years ago, I never would have expected to be a “Contracts” attorney. I always wanted to do things differently. My goal with each client is to show them how to reduce the risk of making mistakes with contracts that are plainly written and with legal entities that are properly maintained. I always say that the value of working with Avanta will set clients up for the freedom to focus on what brings them joy in business and beyond. Outside of work, my joy is spending time with my family and figuring out where our next travel adventure will be.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
As an attorney, it’s hard to switch hats and be the business owner, as most attorneys are not comfortable in that role. Running this practice like a business is a big accomplishment and provides value to our clients because customer service is a priority, as well as efficiency in improving the delivery of services.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Life can be busy and chaotic, and it can be hard to find time to partake in the aspects of your business that you love. However, it is extremely important to find balance and ensure that you have the freedom to focus on your business and your personal life.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have a plan.
- Constantly review and update the plan.
- Enjoy the process.
