What's your business, and who are your customers?

Modular Sure Site is a consulting firm. We specialize in offering construction management services for traditional builders and developers wanting to build a project with modular construction. Our customers are B2B; we work with builders, developers, real estate professionals, and investor groups in the construction industry.

Tell us about yourself

I started in luxury custom home building in Colorado. I learned how to work with clients, answer questions about the build process and listen to their needs. This experience led me to build my own company called, Modular Sure Site. We offered site work services for individuals that wanted to build a custom home using modular construction. Our team completed five projects in Colorado using this build solution. We quickly realized how much time we spent onsite creating faster build times. Our projects went from 12 months to 8 months in one year's time. At the time of COVID, we shifted our business to consulting. We started working with builders and developers to build their pre-construction teams, along with finding a modular factory to complete the project. At this same time, I founded OffsiteDirt.com. Offsite Dirt is a media and event company that showcases all the current news, techniques, technology, influencers, and conversations in offsite construction. This form of construction encompasses volumetric, modular, prefab, panelization, and single and/or multi-trade assemblies.

Offsite Dirt has a two-pronged mission: to inform the construction industry and the general public on the intricacies of what's currently happening in the fast-growing offsite construction field and to provide a meeting place for offsite construction professionals where information, opinions, and resources can be freely exchanged.

While we will frequently highlight specific players in this industry, Offsite Dirt encourages the discussion and exploration of all offsite construction companies, products, and techniques in general. We are committed to finding the best way forward for our industry, and the world, as a whole. Our community has been growing ever since, and now we are expanding with green technologies, passive houses, and low-carbon building solutions. I am mostly motivated by building teams of people I align with through integrity, wisdom, and respect. It is of service to know I'm here to assist with community developments and building projects truly.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I am connecting the offsite construction community with high-performance, low-carbon building practices through OffsiteDirt.com. The biggest accomplishment with Modular Sure Site is the relationships I have maintained with modular factories, building teams, and being able to share my knowledge.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Finding the right team members to expand and grow. Construction is a large industry, and competing with larger companies for experienced individuals is hard for a small business owner. I would love more developers to understand modular construction and how it can benefit their next project.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
