What's your business, and who are your customers?

Atlyss Food Co. is a sustainability-focused meal delivery company out of Charleston, SC. Atlyss is committed to operating in a way that supports a shift in our food system to that of circularity. Our customers are health-minded individuals in regard to their own bodies and the planet.

Tell us about yourself

I love food and nature, and well, they go hand in hand. Growing up, we always had a garden and fruit trees that speckled our backyard. Each spring, my dad would rototill the soil to prepare for planting, and throughout the snowless months, both of my parents would churn the large compost heap we had. I remember being fascinated by the mound, that it was hot in the center, that an apple turned into soil, and that it forever fluctuated in size. It was like lungs expanding and compressing, dependent upon where it was in the decomposition cycle.

My passion for the earth and my curiosity for how things work and grow have stayed with me and have been the driving force in my life. I got into cooking because of my mom and because food encompasses so many things. Art, connection, an experience, health, fuel, and the beauty and mystery of the existence of life on earth. Working in restaurants and cooking on yachts, I became privy to the insane amount of food and packaging waste in the industry. I wanted to create a new way of producing and delivering weekly meals, and thus Atlyss was formed.

The Atlyss team, our customers, and our mission to provide incredible tasting, quality food in the most sustainable way possible, as well as the opportunity to share another, more circular way/system, is what motivates me every day.
