Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dr. Jamie Turndorf, Founder of AskDrLove.com, located in Stuart, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

AskDrLove.com, the web's first relationship advice site since 1995. The site serves men and women of all ages, singles, couples, gay, straight, and non-binary.

Tell us about yourself

As a child who mediated my parents' arguments, I jokingly say that while still wearing diapers, I earned an honorary Ph.D. (or should I say pee h.D.) in conflict resolution! I vowed to figure out how to resolve conflicts and went on to research that topic, which became the subject of my doctoral dissertation. I presented my proven conflict-resolution method in my first book, Till Death Do Us Part (Unless I Kill You First), which Hay House recently republished under the title Kiss Your Fights Goodbye. Early in my career, I hosted the Ask Dr. Love radio show in New York City. That is when I became Dr. Love. The website was founded soon afterward. I have been a guest on all the top national TV and radio shows.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

When my beloved husband was killed by a bee sting, I discovered that we don't die; we just leave our bodies. I concluded that our relationships should not end with bodily death. I developed the Trans-Dimensional Grief Resolution method that enables anyone to reconnect with a loved one in spirit and heal the unfinished business that most of us harbor. Hay House published my story and introduced my method in my no. 1 international bestseller, Love Never Dies: How to Reconnect and Make Peace with the Deceased. Publishing this book was a huge accomplishment because, in doing so, I had to summon the courage to present a very non-mainstream way of approaching death and dying.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

You are on duty all the time. It is essential to set clear boundaries to protect oneself from burnout.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Believe in yourself. Endorse yourself. Follow your heart's calling. Don't worry about what other people think of you and your message. Stay true to yourself.
