What's your business, and who are your customers?
Next Steps Counseling and Consulting, PLLC provides virtual therapy to North Carolina, South Carolina, and Illinois residents. Areas of focus include anxiety and life transitions specializing in body image, disordered eating, and women's issues.
Tell us about yourself
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with over fifteen years of experience providing therapy in various settings, including outpatient, PHP/IOP, community mental health, and private practice. I spent the last eight years of my career in clinical and administrative leadership, but I felt a calling to return to direct service in response to the current mental health crisis. I opened my own practice this year and provide virtual therapy for adults with a variety of presenting issues (anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, life transitions, and relationship issues). I truly love this work!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Starting! Having my own business has been a dream for years. I am proud that I took the leap of faith this year and opened my (virtual) doors.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The learning curve of doing something new can be challenging, especially as a solo business owner. I am in 'learning mode' every day!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
