What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a Board Certified, Registered Art Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, Author and Speaker. I teach people self-care and how to manage their stress better! I work with individual adults and with companies all over.
Tell us about yourself
I started by working as a counselor in a hospital and cancer center, but I really wanted more one-on-one time with my patients and a chance to develop closer relationships - so I am now in private practice, and I am LOVING it! Additionally, I love giving workshops for groups of any size and connecting with the energy in the room. It's very satisfying to see the aha moments on their faces.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Having my book, "Color, Draw, Collage: Create Your Way to a Less Stressful Life," published by Skyhorse Publishing in 2017. That was REALLY exciting for me.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The responsibility of being a sole proprietor, it's all on me! If I don't work, then I don't get paid. So when I go on vacation or get sick, that is a loss of income. But I plan for that - I practice what I teach, and self-care is a priority!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Find balance! Make self-care a priority. If you don't take care of yourself, then your business will not thrive. Learn about SEOs and blogs.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Make time for yourself. Make time for therapy; it helps you to become more aware. If you are aware of it, then you can take care of it!!!
