What's your business, and who are your customers?
The Art Studio By Nicolina, our mission is to create a safe, communal space for all kinds of artists—from beginners to professionals—to come together and express their love for all types of art. We host paint parties, community art events, and birthday parties.
Tell us about yourself
Eleven years ago, I decided to pick up a paintbrush, and I’ve been painting ever since. When Covid first hit in 2020, I envisioned owning my own business. However, everyone discouraged me from doing so. I did it anyway because I felt like God truly put the idea in my heart to pursue. It has been a huge blessing ever since. I love to celebrate, talk to, and encourage people. That’s why I do this!!!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was breaking out of the corporate world to pursue my dream full-time. I now teach art at an Elementary school. It has been a life-changing opportunity!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I am a one-woman show. I do everything, from advertising, paperwork, buying supplies, creating events, and hosting parties. It can sometimes feel overwhelming, but I have an amazing emotional support team that helps me get through it!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Everyone will have business advice for you. I say, "Eat the fish and spit out the bones." Some advice will be good. Other advice may not pertain to you or be negative. Not all advice is for you!
- Be persistent!!! Some days are good, and some days are bad, but persistence is key!
- Read, research, and educate yourself daily on growing and maturing your business. A business can be like a baby. It requires time and attention. Feed your business mind positivity and research ways to improve yourself and your business daily!
