What's your business, and who are your customers?
Art on Main is a vibrant arts community in East Dallas supporting artists and creatives. Art on Main includes artist studio spaces with 22 Dallas-based creatives, the Art on Main Gallery, exhibition space for group or solo shows, space for art classes, artist talks, and art education events.
The Art on Main Gallery offers contemporary works by our studio artists and local artists. Our clients are people interested in original art by local artists, our art classes, and art education events.
Tell us about yourself
I am a mixed media artist, marketer, and owner of Art on Main. With my marketing communications background, I have a great passion for telling stories using the written word. My art is a visual extension of that. I am very proud that, professionally, I found a way to successfully combine my passion and love for art and marketing. I feel I've been able to build a bridge between the worlds of marketing and art that enables me to create some wonderful synergies between the two! For example, mentoring other artists and helping them to market their work! My love of the arts community in Dallas is what motivates me each day!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
At the beginning of this year, I realized my dream to open an arts organization in East Dallas!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Keeping track of all the balls in the air and not letting any of them drop! I wear many hats, and they change every day depending on what the current project is.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Even when your life is super busy, it's important to take everything step by step so you don't get completely overwhelmed.
- I am lucky I have a wonderful support system of family and friends that keeps me going and on the positive path! Make sure you have that support system in place.
- Self-care is a must! Take time for you! Even if it's just a walk around the block on a beautiful day, take some time to decompress and recharge!
