Tell us about yourself

My name is Jeremy Imlach. I am a CoFounder of Algona Partners and serve as the CEO, as well as an Executive Advisor for multiple businesses, and a mentor for accelerators such as Founders Network, Founders Institute, Expert Dojo, and Newchip Accelerator. I have also participated as a Masters's Program coach & judge through the Eller College of Management business school at the University of Arizona.

Our CoFounders, Amadin Aagho and Richard Anderson III, collaborated on establishing Argona Partners to help entrepreneurs through the journey of developing a startup, specifically with impact technologies such as GreenTech and CleanTech. This idea of helping entrepreneurs to the "Golden Fleece" of startup success is where the name Argona is derived from.

I helped start Argona in order to assist with scaling the impact the entrepreneurs have on the environment and local communities. I take pride in helping founders interpret a clear path towards startup growth and, more specifically, how to accelerate that growth. However, it really all comes down to impact. I'm not a scientist, so I'm not going to be coming out with any crazy technologies - but I know how to get those technologies to market so that they can make the difference they're supposed to.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our biggest accomplishment is being recognized globally as a top startup development and consulting firm. We've been recognized four years running for our outstanding efforts. On top of these achievements, we've been able to oversee the growth of many companies and assist with millions of dollars worth of fundraising.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest part of being a business owner is prioritization and roadmap development. It's hard to clarify priorities when everything is important, and the 'to-do' list is never-ending. Part of this is establishing the right team and a clear vision to drive forward without being bogged down by every 'important' task. Bootstrapping is possible. You don't HAVE to raise funds, but if you're not focused on priorities, then you can easily be bogged down by tasks that seem important but don't actually move the needle.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Establish Market Validation build your MVP, and get it to the market as soon as possible. Don't spend time building a product that you're not sure anyone wants.
  2. Understand your vision, what you do BEST, who will benefit, and what your economic driver is.
  3. Focus on creating the right corporate structure. Running a sole proprietorship is way different than running a business. You need the right team in the right seats for the bus to move efficiently.
