What's your business, and who are your customers?

Aquaventures has been a Vancouver Swimsation since 1984! We teach swim skills to children ages 6 months to 14 years in Tropical Warm Water. Our innovative curriculum, awesome Instructors, and small class sizes ensure lessons of value and success!

Tell us about yourself

I started Aquaventures in 1984 after working in large, cold public pools with large student/teacher ratios. My purpose was to offer the finest aquatic education for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers by providing warm water, excellent instruction, and a well-defined program of skills using creative equipment. Today, this concept has grown to include students of all ages and abilities. We continue to enjoy success by providing the finest lessons and because we truly teach people to love the water for a lifetime!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We created the first purpose-built swim school facility in Vancouver in 1997. We have recently completed our new multi-million dollar two-pool facility with state-of-the-art air handling and water treatment in a custom-designed 15,000 sq ft location. Everything has been created to maximize learning time and student success!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Constantly adapting to a changing business landscape - particularly in the last two years!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  2. Constantly be developing your knowledge and skills.
  3. Be Unique, Creative, and Innovative in your business.
