What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a Personal Chef and Registered Dietitian. I provide meal prep services and private catering to clients throughout Lehigh Valley, PA. I tailor healthy and delicious meals for clients with food allergies, dietary restrictions, and health conditions that affect their diet.
Tell us about yourself
I have always had a love of cooking since I was a kid. I love the feeling of sharing a meal with loved ones and the sense of community that goes along with that. The motivation behind my business is being able to offer that same sense of community to individuals with dietary issues.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I'm very lucky to genuinely love what I do and to be able to make a good living doing it. Every time I cater to someone's special occasion, I feel blessed to be a part of it. Hands down, the greatest feeling I've ever had as a personal chef came when I catered a bachelorette party for a bride with multiple life-threatening food allergies. I was able to create a four-course dinner that was tailored specifically to her needs. The look on her face when she realized that every single part of the dinner was safe for her was priceless.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest part of being a business owner for me is figuring out how to give myself downtime. When you can and do work at all hours, it's easy to find yourself pulled into "work mode" when you should be focusing on other aspects of your life.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Choose something that you truly love. Use every encounter as a networking opportunity. Ask for referrals from happy customers.
