Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Erika Straub, founder of Anxious Female, located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am an international trauma coach, writer, speaker, and the founder of Anxious Female, a digital wellness platform and coaching service geared towards resolving anxiety and trauma. I hold a BA and MA in psychology and am trained in Jungian, Somatics, Polyvagal, Attachment, and IFS. I help people create sacred intimacy through regulating their nervous system, repairing mother and father wounding, and earning secure attachment. I believe healing trauma is a spiritual experience.

Tell us about yourself

At twenty-two, I lost my father to a twelve-year battle with cancer that triggered an unearthing of repressed emotions and fear. Unsure of at the time how loss could create such a cacophony of symptoms in my nervous system, it wasn't until much later, after many years of inner work, did I arrive at the root causation. It was in this self-exploration, rather excavation of a past I couldn't easily remember, that I discovered the residue of trauma and how that experience could leave such an imprint on not only my nervous system but the filter through which I saw myself and the world. Understanding the implications of how my past was controlling my present was a launching pad. Desperately seeking reprieve from panic attacks was also my greatest motivation and catalyst to heal. Once I began breaking the silence that shame encapsulated, helplessness began to alchemize into empowerment and alignment.

I intuitively understand that moving my body, stimulating my mind, and expressing my emotions enriched the quality of my life and relationships. These three seemingly simple practices began the process of rebuilding a stable foundation, a bridge to my inner resources, and a more regulated nervous system. I want to create a pathway for others to resolve trauma.
