What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a psychologist, and it's my business to support, encourage, and bring creativity to clients interested in how their feelings, thoughts, beliefs, and expectations come together to create the quality of their lives.
Tell us about yourself
As a university student, I took follow-up courses to those I previously enjoyed and discontinued those that didn't stimulate more interest. As a result, the psychology profession availed itself to me. For me, life is about growing and evolving through experiences. I am motivated by the opportunity to learn every day, and my practice provides me with that opportunity.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Today, business is highly competitive, and simply surviving beyond the point most small businesses fold is an accomplishment. Helping people explore "what's most important to them" and developing their leadership, performance skills, and abilities feels like a daily accomplishment.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
For any professional, we need to be "on" at all times. How we go about ensuring we bring our best every day is what distinguishes us from each other. Continual self-care and cultivating a supportive social environment are challenging, rewarding, and essential to growing and maintaining a successful small business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
First, follow your passions, learn the skills required to run a successful small business and finally, face and accept daily challenges head-on with creativity. Challenges are gifts and opportunities.
