What's your business, and who are your customers?

Personal training, nutrition, and yoga. I am a NASM-Certified Personal Trainer, a PN1-Certified Nutrition Coach, and a Yoga-Alliance-Certified Yoga Teacher. I work primarily with women over the age of 40.

Tell us about yourself

I have been active my whole life, starting in grade school, where I played soccer, basketball, and ran. I ran my first 10k in 8th grade. But my passion for fitness began my freshman year in college after gaining the "Freshman 15". To get the weight off, I enrolled in a course at school centered around fitness and nutrition. From there, it grew into a hobby of mine. I continued running all throughout college, and after college, I started competing in 10k's and half marathons and completed my first marathon at the age of 30.

Shortly later, I had two kids and gained 40 lbs with each pregnancy. Again I got the weight off through exercise and healthy eating. Years later, I decided to turn my passion for fitness and healthy eating into a career. I now work full-time as a trainer, nutrition coach, and yoga teacher, working primarily with women over the age of 40. Helping others reach their health and fitness goals is a passion of mine. I absolutely love helping others change their lives for the better. It's so rewarding. It doesn't feel like work. I get absorbed in what I am doing, and time passes very quickly.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Helping women change their lives for the better. Showing them how to incorporate movement into their lives, along with healthy eating - helping them create healthy habits.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I don't get paid vacations or sick leave. If I don't work, I don't get paid.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Follow your passion.
  2. Do what you love.
  3. Market yourself constantly so that people know you are there.
