What's your business, and who are your customers?

Angie’s Bakery is a community bakery. We provide for our community and local restaurants and Filipino families that seek the flavors of home.

Tell us about yourself

First and foremost, I am an Artist. I have a background in marketing and communication design. I also paint in oil and teach classical portraiture. I wear many hats in the Bakery. From Head Baker to Barista to Social Media Marketing and customer relations. My motivation is to inspire our customers and teach everyone our culture through baked goods and lattes.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Sharing the Filipino culture with our whole community and preserving traditions through the generations that step into our bake shop.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The balance of family and business. As a business owner, it’s more complicated to leave the job at the door. You always strive for your business to flourish, and you want your employees to grow with you. It’s a constant creative mindset that stays on 24/7 in preparation to make your future days easier and more successful.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you have an accountant you communicate well with.
  2. Make sure what you’re doing is what you love to do. Be authentic in what you do.
  3. Speak to your customers and understand them. Make decisions that you feel are right and are never forced.
