Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in music but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Angelo Edalo Marinelli, Founder of Edalo Music, located in Buffalo, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is music, and my customers are those who listen. In life, I've learned that it's about treating people the way you want to be treated and having the encouragement to do what's right. I fill the void in people's music projects by providing compositions for businesses or music artists. I strive to bring ways to complete your project to the table. The music industry is super saturated, so it's about helping people.

Tell us about yourself

When I was a child, I first started playing the drums at three, and as I got older, I learned that to be successful, you had to learn more than just one instrument or talent. I have about 11 years of experience since my first headlining show was back in 2011. What motivates me in my daily life is interactions with meeting new people. Being able to connect and work with those who are even in another part of the globe makes me realize the world can be a very small place. Being a musician, composer and producer have its up and downs, but I believe it's about staying true to yourself. Living on your own agenda is a constant grind, but it's always worth it.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment has been touring nationally over the last few years, achieving over 1 million streams on Spotify, having a feature article, a featured article in Billboard Sound, and being able to accomplish soon working with over 10 "verified" music artists.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a businessman in music is accepting rejection. Most of all of us don't like to be rejected. It takes constant daily reminders and works to run a successful career in music. Working together is just half of the job. The other part is also finding your way. You're not always going to have everything you need or anyone to help you. It's your responsibility to make sure you not only get what you want but also what you deserve. The responsibility comes down to you.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The top three things I would give anyone looking to start or run a business would be to network. The more people you know, the better it is for you. Having friends you work with makes your job much more enjoyable. The second thing is having patience with yourself. Rome wasn't built in a night so try to have patience with things you are bringing to reality. Lastly, save! Work smarter, not harder. Try not to burn yourself.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Feel free to check and follow me on all social! I appreciate those who take a moment to listen to my music. Life should be enjoyed. Work as smart as you can but remember always to do what you love.
