What's your organization, and who are your members?
AngeLink is the world's first social crowdfunding platform built and powered by women. Our highly secure web and mobile app allows individuals and teams to digitally fundraise for their loved ones and causes that are dear to them. All people who find themselves in a time of need are invited to use AngeLink, and our customer base of 26,000+ is predominantly female.
Tell us about yourself
Throughout my 25-year career in finance, I was often the only woman in the room. I came to realize that women, especially female founders, are often financially disenfranchised when compared to their male counterparts. In 2020, female founders received just 3% of all VC funding! I started AngeLink to empower women through safe, trusted crowdfunding. Each day I am motivated to continue building and improving AngeLink because I'd like to see a change in the status quo. The world needs more Melanie Perkins, Whitney Wolfe Herds, and Sara Blakely!
What's your biggest accomplishment as an organization?
I am most proud of the team that we have built at AngeLink. We don't just advocate for powerful women--we are powerful women! With a female CEO, female CTO, female CFO, female Head of Growth, and a 90% female team, AngeLink is truly powered by women. Together, we've raised $5.5M in funding and built a top-tier platform that has processed $1.26M in donations.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being an organization?
One of the hardest things about being a business owner is identifying which of the many, many fascinating opportunities we'd like to pursue and problems we'd like to solve. There are so many issues that crowdfunding can help with, and we need to be smart about which ones we choose to specifically pursue and run with!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow an organization today?
Be bold, don't take no for an answer, and be sure to uplift others whenever you can.
