Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in finance but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Angela Hacche, Money Coach for Entrepreneurs, based in Nevada City, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Angela Hacche is a Money Coach who teaches scaling business owners how to turn their profits into prosperity. Through building positive financial habits, foundational knowledge, and an emphasis on holistic money management, she's helped entrepreneurs transform how they use & think, and feel about the finances in both their businesses and personal lives. The money philosophy she helps her clients and audience cultivate is that of being empowered to allow their money to be an absolute force for good, for their business, their family, their community, and themselves.

Tell us about yourself

My initial foray into Money Coaching was sparked after realizing that growing up in an environment where money was stressful and scarce and only used on necessities was going to have a negative impact on the future I envisioned for myself. I knew that financial literacy would never be formally taught to me and that if I wanted to do something different with my money and create a future of abundance, wealth, and joy with money and the ability to be generous, I was going to have to teach myself.

After finding a method and philosophy with money that worked well for me, I began looking around at the people in my life and found so many others who could really benefit from learning how best to use their money. And after spending some time in the personal finance realm, I found that a majority of those who were coming to me for money coaching were business owners, as they found the addition of managing fluctuating business income, expenses, and profit to be a challenge on top of managing personal finances.

In day-to-day business, I wake up and serve each client and my social community with the aspiration to help them develop the skills with their money that will lead them to a prosperous business that funds the life for themselves and their family that they envision. And while I can't go back in time and change the environment and financial circumstances that produced the struggle and scarcity that so deeply impacted my own family, I can learn to do differently in my own life, my future family's lives, and pass along those same skills and financial foundations to my clients.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I think, as a whole, being able to say wholeheartedly that I've accomplished what I've set out to make stands as my biggest accomplishment. I never set out to earn the most amount of money or hit six figures in revenue in my first year -- my only goal will forever and always be that each client left our time together feeling confident about their money and then went on to create something positive with that skillset.

And those skills have manifested in amazing and wonderful ways: completely paying off debt, having comfortable money conversations with their spouse, funding their business, saving their first $50K, buying a home, starting a family, and so much more. Those will always stand as a reflection of meaningful accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Building the business you actually WANT is difficult. For many of us, our business is the first time we've been wholly in charge of every single element of our work and personal lives. Especially in the world of an online business, you'll be consistently pulled in different directions about what your business should look like, how much you should be working, who you should be working with, how much money you should be making...and that constant influence can pull us in a direction where we look up in 12 months and wonder what we've built.

Thoroughly understanding what kind of business you actually WANT, what kind of lifestyle you'd like that business to fund, and building something that molds around you and your desired work/life balance will always be a healthy challenge.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Curate the vision for the life you want FIRST and then build the business to match.
  2. Once you have the vision and practical elements of your business, prioritize honing your money skills because those will KEEP you in business, allow you to fund growth, + foster a business that has the ability to build long-term wealth.
  3. Don't forget what got you there, and don't tie your fulfillment or success to the revenue you earn. The people, your mission, the relationships, the generational patterns you're working to break, and the larger vision and purpose need to remain at the heart of what you're building. If it's just money...that inspiration runs out quickly. Stay grounded in the money; learning to use the money you're working hard to earn to build something bigger than just a business that lasts a few years or just hitting a milestone in revenue earned will carry you through the ebbs and flows which inevitably happen in business and life.
