Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kaysie Lingo, Partner at Anatomy & Alchemy, located in Chicago, IL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

At Anatomy & Alchemy Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine, we understand that health and beauty are intertwined. That's why our team of experienced acupuncturists use a variety of therapies - from acupuncture to herbal medicine to microneedling - with the goal of helping you feel like your best self both inside and out! Our specialty is dermatology, gut health, and hormonal regulation, however, no matter what issue or condition brings you in the door, it will be met with compassionate care matched by an individualized treatment plan tailored specifically for you.

Tell us about yourself

After searching for better pain relief from Western medical options, I eventually found my calling in the alternative healthcare field. Working alongside an amateur bodybuilder was a key factor that encouraged me to transition away from being a pastry chef and dive into this inspiring work instead. Helping patients achieve their best possible health outcomes has been incredibly rewarding - not only providing strategic treatment plans but also implementing lifestyle modifications that ultimately aid them on their journey back to wellness faster than expected!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

With my business partner's relocation to Colorado, I was presented with an opportunity to start anew. After putting in the work - a comprehensive revamp of both workspace and image - what could have been seen as a difficult circumstance turned into something truly great: A practice that reflected who I am down to every detail! It is exactly how it looked in my dreams.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

As a business proprietor, managing multiple facets of operations can be an intimidating endeavor. To become successful in every area from office management to medical care - and everything else that comprises running the show - seeking assistance is critical! Working independently does not mean feeling isolated. By turning outward for help, you'll soon realize just how supportive such resources can prove to be.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find a mentor! Getting mentorship from someone who has trodden this path before you can be essential in helping guide you along yours.
  2. Taking the initiative to build meaningful connections today will open up a world of possibilities for your future. Don't hesitate to reach out and jumpstart relationships that could bring about life-changing business opportunities!
  3. It's important to create realistic goals that won't lead to burnout but rather tangible happiness and harmony with all aspects of your life's journey.
