What's your business, and who are your customers?
Anagram is a subscription-based micro-coffee roaster! Our goal is to share the experience of a great cup of coffee with everyday coffee drinkers. We rotate our coffees every season and redesign them every month. Much like grapes to wine, the design in roasting the beans can have a great impact on the coffee experience.
Tell us about yourself
I love building things. Anagram is one of several businesses that I've founded and built. I'm motivated by the constant need for experiment and growth.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Unrelated to Anagram, I am also the co-founder of one of the fastest-growing LinkedIn marketing and sales enablement agencies. We have achieved over $1 million in sales in less than two years and have grown our team to over 15 full-time remote team members.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Everything is your fault - the good and the bad! It's important to remain thick-skinned to weather the toughest of times. My greatest challenge is in developing myself as a leader as I begin building my team.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Pay yourself first!
- Document and delegate - your goal as a business owner should, in fact, be to one day remove yourself from the business and only operate where and when you like.
- Learn to separate personal versus commercial - things are going to get challenging, and you're going to have to make the tough calls. Taking everything personally is going to carry you into your life at home. For me, it has been a major source of stress and anxiety.
