Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey by launching a wellness business but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Brett Weiss, co-founder and CEO of ErgoSesh, based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Ergonomic Consulting. We work with the teams of forward-thinking companies that want to provide their companies with a one of a kind injury prevention experience.

Tell us about yourself

I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist, and father of identical twins! After years of treating injuries after they happened, I decided it was time to go out and find my patients before they found me in the clinic. Each day I am motivated by “Aha moments.” An ErgoSesh is a conversation about working healthier, and we use ergonomic best practices as the tool in which we create lasting change. In every ErgoSesh consultation, there is at least one moment where the client connects an ergonomic issue with an ache or pain they have been experiencing. We make the change, and they immediately feel the difference. At this moment, I know I have made a lasting impact on the future of that client.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have never had a review that wasn’t five stars.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Getting our message to the world.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start with a solid plan.
  2. Know what you do and how you’re going to do it.
  3. Surround yourself with people you trust and who have a different skill set than yourself.
