Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Amy Vasterling, an Intuitive Pathfinder based in Eagan, MN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm changing the face of psychology with new ideas that, in turn, change the way we show up in our world. My clients include Psychologists, Parents, Spiritual Seekers, and those with a Highly Sensitive Personality Type.

Tell us about yourself

An Intuitive nudge supported my highly driven nature to bring what I learned from introspection and wisdom (observation) outward to counseling clients. A dull ache inside was the true catalyst. I knew others had this dull ache that was growing in them as well. It can be said we felt "different." I knew how to soothe this ache while sharing the opportunity of "why" we feel this way and what it all means. If I'm honest, curiosity drives me to do what I do each day. Curiosity is what brings my power to my expertise.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Overcoming fear. Again and again. I'm a philosophical type. I like to think, and I LOVE deep conversation. When it comes to running a business, there are a lot of things you are not going to be good at. Sorry, QuickBooks solve your own problems. You're the one who likes math, not me. I muddled through and hired people where I could, which wasn't much and didn't lead to things I desired.

My greatest accomplishment is believing in what I'm doing through the fear when those who love me say, "Stop!" "Don't continue" "It's not working." Somewhere inside me, I knew I needed to hang in there. It was not easy! Did you see that part where I said I'm driven? Twenty-two years of learning and waiting is a LONG time. And? It's true hindsight is 20/20. As a matter of fact, I can explain why hindsight IS 20/20, how that works and why. It was important for me to get to the core understanding of how we operate by nature as humans and its intuition. I'm here to champion something I call our personal knowledge, and that was hard won and also so very worth it.

What I learned breaks down the hierarchy by natural means; it reestablishes the abundance of everyone and is our pathway to ease and our brilliance. I'm happy I stuck with it because, at the beginning of my business, I could never have seen what would unfold so many years later.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is it's personal! Selling yourself or your idea? No thanks! Hiring support you desperately need due to a brimming workload? Yeeesh! Where does one begin? It can feel lonely being an entrepreneur, and finding a match in a business networking group or mastermind can be just another thing to complete on your list. Your job at the center of your business is to hold a vision of the big picture. From there, how can others fill in and help you?

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Know your personality, learning, and style of operating in the world. Then start your business that way. Your business is a reflection of you so feeling like "its personal" or "imposter complex" is part of the process of learning where you shine in your business and where you need to step out and get support. The perspective will save you oodles of money so remember, look to the big picture to find out why you are hiring or asking for support, etc. This will bring much-needed clarity, so if you're doing and feeling like you're trusting blindly unless you are, then reach out to me; I can help!
