Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business consulting and services but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ryan Turner, Founder of Amplifi Strategy, located in Madrid, Spain.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Amplifi helps course creators and info-product businesses design and implement effective on-page customer journeys to double and triple revenue from online courses and info-products. If you are a proven business with an online course, service, or program that you want to sell more efficiently and effectively, you will benefit from working with us!
There are two sides to my business.
- Digital strategy consulting- during the consulting process, we identify the levers in your business that generate revenue and the strategy to optimize those levers. At the end of the consulting process, you have a strategy that you can implement and build with your team or use our team to build out all of your on-page and email journey assets.
- Digital agency- we have a full team of designers, copywriters, editors, and project managers to build out your strategy so that you can implement it quickly and begin to monitor results.
Most clients go through consulting and strategy development first and opt for our team to later build out the assets necessary to execute the strategy.
Tell us about yourself
My journey has been a long but fast one. I fell into marketing after a struggle with Cancer that required a change in mindset. I had been working in sales and was fired from my job because of not reaching sales objectives while undergoing chemotherapy treatment. It was a punch to the stomach that woke me up to the possibility of creating my own financial future! I ended up beating cancer and deciding to move into helping coaches improve sales using a proven framework that I had discovered while working in sales.
It was a total disaster as an offer, but in the end, one of my first clients asked me to create a website and basic sales funnel for them, and I accepted. I realized the power of marketing and the positive impact that effective strategy can have on a business.
I pivoted to building sales funnels for coaches and eventually became so knowledgeable that people began asking if they could hire me just for advice and guidance. Once I began to incorporate consulting as part of the process for my clients, I began to see a huge change in the number of people that Amplifi could reach and help.
Since then, I’ve grown massively, and Amplifi as a company is now a permanent consultant for one of the biggest and most well-known marketing software companies in the world.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Growing as an expert in my field was painful and felt long. But the amount of knowledge you get through trial and error is the ultimate growth motivator for my company. I’m extremely proud of becoming recognized in my industry as one of the top consultants for Kartra. And more than anything, I’m also extremely proud of creating a business that is dedicated to helping people.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Taking action despite the failures. It’s counterintuitive to fail and keep doing something. But the key that I’ve learned is to be open to learning from your mistakes and optimizing. Most people I remember in my field have quit or closed their businesses. The select few people in my accelerator cohort are not only determined individuals but are relentless in their positive outlook and want to improve and take the necessary actions to improve themselves constantly. This is probably the most challenging thing to do. Taking action to improve your current situation. Not just thinking about it but doing it. Lots of the decisions are hard. And you will always have LOTS OF DECISIONS to make, but if you practice taking action and then optimizing, you can create a replicable framework built around continued growth for your business. I learned this the hard and long way, but my clients shouldn’t have to!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Take action and get started on your objective.
- Don’t be afraid to mess up (because you undoubtedly will, anyways).
- See what works in your industry and replicate it. You don’t have to be original to be successful, but to be original; you’ll have to find success in a process that works and have a successful mindset.
