Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Amanda Kingsmith, Owner of Mastering the Business of Yoga, located in Queretaro, Queretaro, Mexico.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I run a podcast and coaching business helping yoga teachers and studio owners create thriving yoga businesses. My main customers are yoga teachers and yoga studio owners.

Tell us about yourself

After spending six months in South America in 2014, I decided to quit the corporate world and become a yoga teacher. Soon after I started teaching yoga, I moved to a new city in a new country and struggled to get started teaching. This inspired me to create Mastering the Business of Yoga to interview yoga teachers about how they were creating successful yoga businesses.

Now I blend my background in business with my passion for yoga to help other yoga teachers with their businesses. Seeing yoga teachers able to have a sustainable business doing what they love is what motivates me each day to do what I do.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is monetizing a podcast and being able to teach the business of yoga portion of a teacher training based in Vancouver, BC.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing that comes with running a business is balancing everything. There are always a million things to do, and I am currently balancing that with having a small baby.

I have learned to be very efficient with my time and do as much as I can with small pockets of time. I have always learned how to delegate and ask for help, which is hugely important as a business owner.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do something that you're passionate about.
  2. Ask for help with the things that aren't in your zone of genius.
  3. Prioritize self-care and make sure you're eating well, exercising, and getting enough sleep.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Don't be afraid to follow your dreams and pursue a career that you're excited about and passionate about!
