Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Majd Alusta, Founder of Alusta Training & Coaching, located in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is in the Training & Coaching, and human development fields. My customers are private and public corporations and organizations in many different industries, governmental, big pharma, IT, banking, humanitarian, education, management consultancies, and more.

Tell us about yourself

What got me to do what I do now was a three-year struggle with severe depression and anxiety that was a result of childhood abuse—sexual, physical, and emotional—and a lack of parental love and care that lasted for decades, which eventually led me to choose myself over all my poor and harsh circumstances.

It’s been a journey of spiritual cleansing and psychological healing that started with one question I had one morning, and that was, "What do I want?" which led me to realize that I wanted to be happy… I didn’t know what that meant, and I didn’t know where to start or how to start, but the first step on the journey of self-love and care started with me adopting an attitude of gratitude that changed my life around 🙏

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The most significant accomplishment to date in my business and my life has been working on my personal development and changing the person I once was, which has not only led me to become a better version of myself but also given me the opportunity to be welcomed to share my success story with others and have the privilege of connecting with other fellow earth visitors and influencing them in a positive way that may help them on their journey here.

I sometimes hear the old me say, "You know, to be invited by corporations and organizations to help them develop their people and actually "get paid for it," WOW!" Because I couldn’t even dare to dream of a "fantasy like that".

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Working with people who do business for the sake of business without any consideration for the benefit of people around them, those who have to tick a particular box on their KPI chart without a vision towards an actual betterment of the people—in short, working with people who don’t care about development and growth.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Believe in yourself.
  2. Believe in your ideas and your true calling.
  3. And always keep working toward your personal development.
