Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christina Costantino, Founder of Alternative Healing Massage Therapy and Rehab Clinic, located in Vaughan, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Alternative Healing is a massage therapy and rehab clinic where excellence meets tranquility curating optimal performance and relaxation. Our customers are individuals investing in their health to prevent and rehabilitate an injury or to simply take time for themselves to relax. We have 2600 square feet of clinic space spread between two floors filled with natural light, crisp whites, fresh greens, and wood accents. It's an entire vibe! On our main floor, we have an entire pediatric division filled with climbing structures, sensory equipment, and hydrotherapy tubs. On the second floor is where we house our adult clientele which includes a boutique gym. We offer services for your entire family and accommodate all medical needs. We also accept health insurance and offer direct billing, making taking care of yourself convenient and affordable.

Tell us about yourself

I am a mom of two beautiful girls, who are five and six years old and who are currently inheriting my sass. I am constantly increasing my knowledge and skill set by taking continuing education courses, but in my downtime, you can find me reading ( I'm a sucker for a good romance novel), dancing to Spanish music, or creating memories with my kids and husband. I got hit by a car when I was 15 and discovered I had scoliosis. The accident aggravated scoliosis, and as I grew older, it reached a severe state which negatively impacted my quality of life.

By the time I was 21, I had needed a posterior spinal fusion to correct it. They inserted two rods, bolts, screws, and a bone graft from a donor (I'm basically the terminator), in my rehabilitation over the years leading up to the surgery and after I found my love for massage therapy and rehab. It was the only form of therapy that truly helped me psychologically and physically, so I vowed to enroll in massage school after my recovery. I had my surgery in March 2011 and enrolled in September 2011.

Directly after graduating, Alternative Healing was born. I started by renting one room in a spa, and fast forward nine years and three moves, and we are in our forever location and thriving. It has manifested into exactly what I intended, and I am so grateful. Thoroughly understanding the body's function and dysfunction is my jam! Assisting adults and children with their physical goals and the rehabilitative journey is absolutely what I was meant to do. It brings me immense joy that cannot be put into words but is 100% exuded in the quality of treatment I provide.
