What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a for-profit organization dedicated to the personal growth of motherhood. We help women go from feeling overwhelmed, lost, and stagnant to mindful and intentional by developing the necessary skills and knowledge they need to grow and reach their next level of prosperity in any area of life that they feel needed most. Our services range from mental health support, Personal development: life coaching, entrepreneur services, faith support, and Job preparation.

Tell us about yourself

I identify myself as a Child of God, a Mother, & Leader. I always had a heart for helping. I currently carry two degrees in Psychology and in Mental Health in Human Services. My experience includes children with disabilities, adolescents in the system, young adults in shelters, women with anxiety, low self-esteem, BPD, DV victims, etc. I also have years of experience helping women find self-love while practicing self-care and coaching/ leading women to reach their goals.

What brought me to start the business wasn't only my love for helping others but my experience having my daughter and watching my business partners' experience after having six children. One of the many complications I experienced was Postpartum Depression. This specifically is what made me realize women need help in all areas of life. I realized that most doctors only help with the depression part and with parenting, which is great. They teach us how to be a good parent and be there for the child, but no one teaches you how to be there for you. No one prepared me for the changes motherhood can make in my life. After you are released from "postpartum watch," you are pretty much on your own figuring out the new chapter in your life. You don't hear from doctors, and if you don't have support, you won't truly hear from anyone. It's usually how's the baby but not much of how are you. Life changed, jobs became harder, intimacy with your partner may have changed, the time you used to have no longer exists, and the list goes on.

My team and I have decided to be the support women need in those grey areas that no one speaks about. The grey areas that we as mothers are supposed to just figure out and carry on in order to focus on parenting. We support you in your journey and growth as a woman in all areas of life. Seeing women prosper is what motivates me to continue. We have so many limitations against us that being able to help one person get to the steps they need can keep me going. Women are leaders, and by me helping a mother grow, it's not only them I am helping, but it's their family, friends, and generations to come that will be led in the right direction. It starts with women, starts with us.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is being able to connect with all types of people. Being able to see the change of growth happening in a woman's life.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is marketing and balance. Marketing because without it, no one would know your services are out there. You have to keep trying different things to see what works for you. You also have to have balance. There are days I want to do business all day, but then I remember I have a life too or life all day and remember I have a business too. Having the consistency of both is important because, without consistency, you can end up neglecting one, which could lead to becoming overwhelmed.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have a plan. I never knew how important a business plan is until My first business failed due to not having orders or expectations. Create a plan that's realistic and that you can stick to and continue to look at the plan, don't just have it sitting in the corner; use it; you will need it.
  2. Don't give up; you may have to rebrand and may have slow days and no sales, but many businesses don't become successful right away, and even to those who did, you are different. Your business is uniquely yours, so don't give up; keep going, make changes if needed, and take all opportunities.
  3. Just do it. Sometimes we let fear get the best of us. We think we have to have it all to begin. Just do it start slowly and with what you have, then gradually grow from there. Don't let fear stop you from doing something that you love (make sure you love it, you will need passion).

Is there anything else you'd like to share?
