What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is a portal for activation. I help ideas, projects, and ventures get off the ground and support the people behind them through the process.

Tell us about yourself

My background is in the service industry, and my career at the time was deep in the coffee business. During that time, right before I started my business, I felt like a key component to it all was missing for me. I remember I had just got a raise, one I had to really fight for in that arena, and I felt numb to it. It was like I accomplished this thing I was told would make me happier, and I felt exactly the same. The next day I put in my notice. That was the start, I want the work that I do to fulfill me on a deep soul level, and that's what inspires me every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been freedom over my time. I like to curate my day and schedule in a way that makes me feel good instead of going at someone else's pace. When my body feels good, I'm my most creative, and that creativity is an asset to what I do.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Time Management! It's funny given I was just praising the freedom of time, but really this is it. Having complete freedom over your time isn't passive; just float like a butterfly through life, concept. It's knowing that no one is going to come to tell you to get your to-do list done, and no one else is going to say 'no' so you don't over-extend yourself. It's radical responsibility, and it's hard!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Set honest intentions - get real with yourself (What do you need from your business?)
  2. Set realistic goals - get real with yourself (What does your business need from you?)
  3. Create a business plan.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Trust yourself! There are experts plenty in the business world, but no one knows what's correct for you better than you!
